All About Us
Here at Charlestown Primary School we have lots and lots of things going on all the time. We have written about some of the things that we get up to to give you a flavour of our school.
Synchroneyes – Thomas B & Siobhan
We have been learning how to use synchroneyes on our laptops joining to mrkp and using chat-rooms between our class. Then we split up in to groups, not only is it fun to use but you learn a lot from it one feature it has is it allows our teacher (MRKP) to see what we are doing also he can control our laptops too. If we are messing with our laptops then he can always lock us out it is so annoying when he does it says eyes to the front please on the screen. Synchroneyes is a good program because if you cant see the screen he can send his screen to our laptops.
Christmas Production – Alice & Demi
Over the last few weeks we have been practising a Christmas production to show parents, family and friends. But this year instead of acting we have been looking at different countries traditions, but we have done some acting about a family on Christmas eve, also we read out a poem that was split into parts. Kirsty read out the first part then year 3 read out the next large part of the poem, then year4 read out the 3rd part of the poem , next year5 read out the 4th part of the poem, and then year6 (our class) read out the second to last part of the poem but Ben read out the very last part of the poem. The poem was called the night before Christmas. When we finshed the play the infants was clapping and cheering, so in the end the dress rehearsal was a great success.
Doppleme – Anthony & Tyler
Dopple Me is a website where you can dress up little cute people and make it look like you. The people that you dress up are called Avatars. You can choose a head, a mouth, clothing and allsorts and even a background. When you have finished your Avatar it will come up at Google Apps. We use Avatars so that we don’t put our names and photographs on the internet.
Radio Interviews – Paige
On the 26th of November we went to the radio station. At the radio station we had a tour of the recording rooms which were quite small. In one of there was a man mixing music for the radio then Connor D and I went on air at Salford City Radio asking the inspector of Pendleton police station questions , some of the questions were What do I do if someone approaches me with a knife ? And another was Have any police officers been affected by racism? We went off to the radio station because the table which I and Connor were on won because we had the questions. We also made a jingle which started with Hello Buenos Dias Chico’s. The people at the radio station were amazing and funny and also very kind.
Reading with Younger Children – Courtney & Dion
In year six everyday we read with younger children from year 1 and 2.the children cooperate with us in a great way they love our help. Reading is fun and they really enjoy it .they work with us and always say thank you at the end because we give them a lot of attention and help with there reading .After we have eaten our dinner we go and collect the children they don’t moan and groan they just come in and read. We have to put a comment on a sheet or book to say how well they read. The teachers say great this is really helpful.
