Of was all systems go today in Year Six as we really got to grips with the new year.

The morning started with a visitor to our class, Miss Baron, who came to see all our good work. We showed her our drawning skills in our art session using pencils and computers!

Then it was time for break. We had an extra 10 minutes today because we hit our school attendence target last week!

We then had our ‘normal’ Numeracy session.

In the afternoon we had a session with the whole of Year 5 to work on our factsheets about the birds of prey that we saw last week. It was great we all got to join together in the Synchroneyes chat groups to share our facts.

When the bell rang at 3:00pm we were all ready to go home, bit some of us then went to a Numeracy booster too!

What a busy day!

People in School  Tagged 4 Comments »

Today we all had a rather different type of morning! PCSO Fullerton came in to talk to us about crime prevention. We all got to take our own fingerprints too! It was extremely messy, but great fun.
Some of us even got to dress up in crime scene suits.

Football report

Uncategorized 2 Comments »

At football before we had started we did
Some warm ups. The warm up was is called touch down.
When the match started we has a couple of shots and then the reaf blew the whistle and then we had started the game.
We had passed a lot and sorced a goal. Angel scored two goals but the ref blew the whistle and it was half time. We had about 4 or 5 subs on and we kept on swopping around so everyone gets ago so it is fair.

After half time we went back playing football. We had started to skill lots of people and then anthony scored a goal. I had past it to Adam and Adam chiped it up in the air and Darren headed it but it hit post and then Dylan had kicked it and scored.

Wordle and Creative Writing

Mrkp:
Today we used a program called wordle to assess the quality of our character descriptions in literacy. Wordle is a program that makes ‘word clouds.’

We looked at a picture of a man looking over the edge of a cliff or well and wrote a 100 word description about him. We then used synchroneyes to look each others work and pasted it all into wordle.

We found out that most of us described the character using phrases like ‘he looked….’ Next time that we do this we are going to try and use much more powerful words to describe what we see.

Dion:
I like what we did today because it was really intresting, we all wrote a story and on chat we all sent our story so it would appear on everyones.

Concept mapping in Science

Thomas D:
Today we tried to make a diagram on plants and it was really great I really enjoyed it.It was amazing what you can do on the computer if you try to. It was really good to learn about if you didn’t know about plants and it was really interesting to know.

MrKp: I really enjoyed working with this today it was called 2Simple (2connect)

It helped the children see the links between the different Science vocabulary that they need to be able to use. There’s a lot for them to learn. Deusa wrote this list to show you how much vocabulary there is just for plants!

Pollen, fruit, sepals, petals, style, stigma, pollination, germination, anchor, leaves, stem, pollen, root, carpel, seed, sunlight, dispersal, germination, fertilization, stamen, lifecycle, photosynthesis, reproduction, absorb, ovule(ovary)
